There is a great impact on the quality for the thickness of plastic parts processing. When wall thickness is too small,flow resistance will be large, it is difficult to fill the cavity of large and complex plastic parts. Plastic parts processing wall thickness of the minimum size should meet the following requirements:

1, Sufficient strength and rigidity;

2, Withstand the impact and vibration of the mechanism when demould;

3, Sustain fastening force when assembly.

Injection molding factory has a minimum wall thickness, there is a difference from plastic parts kind,grade and size. The big wall thickness is not only waste of the raw material in the plastic parts processing, but also increse the time of molding for the thermosetting plastic molding process and easy to make solidification incomplete; and for the thermoplastic, it increases the cooling time. In addition, it will affect the quality of plastic parts, the same wall thickness of injection molded parts should be as consistent as possible, or due to the uneven cooling and curing speed lead to additional stress.

It is very important to reasonably define the thickness of plastic parts. The wall thickness of the plastic parts fistly depend on its use request: including the strength, cost, electrical performance, dimensional stability and assembly of the part. Generally the wall thickness has the experience value, refer to the similar to determine ( eg. Iron general wall thickness 2mm, vacuum cleaner is generally 2.5mm), notes as following:

A, Plastic wall thickness should be as uniform as possible, to avoid too thin, too thick and sudden changes in wall thickness, if the plastic parts required wall thickness changes, should be gradual or arc transition, otherwise it will  be uneven shrinkage plastic deformation , Affecting the strength of plastic parts, the impact of injection molding, such as liquidity problems.

 B, Wall thickness of plastic parts in the range of 1-5mm. The most commonly used is 2-3mm.

 C,Commonly used plastic parts of the minimum thickness and wall thickness recommended values: (mm)

D, As far as possible not to design the stiffener rib and screw too thick, for safety’s sake, it is generally recommended to take half of the body wall thicknes, or it will easily cause microcosm appearance problems

E, As far as possible not to design a separate part of the plate, the size is very small on the other, or deformation lead to uneven parts
